FAQ/About Us Headline
What is asphalt paving?
Asphalt paving, sometimes called "blacktopping" is the process of installing hot mix asphalt on an area and rolling it out to make a flat, smooth surface.
Why asphalt instead of another material?
Asphalt is a cost-effective, durable material that is easy to maintain.
Why should I consider asphalt paving?
Ease of maintenance, a paved driveway offers a smooth clear entrance to your home. The "curb appeal" of your home is much greater if your driveway is paved. Your home is probably your greatest asset. This asset can be easily enhanced with a paved driveway.
When can I get my driveway paved?
Generally, asphalt paving is done during March through December in this area, depending on the weather.
How much does it cost?
Paving a driveway is surprisingly affordable. We will be happy to quote a price when we come out to look at your driveway.
How long do we have to stay off the driveway?
It is recommended that you stay off the driveway 5-7 days to allow the driveway to cure.
Can we walk on the driveway?
Yes, you can. The exceptions are no high heels or bikes. However, take notice that the driveway may remain a bit tacky during warm weather, so you may want to check the bottoms of your shoes before entering your home.
What type of care do we have to take when driving on it is allowed?
It is important to remember that once your driveway has cured that the surface may remain a bit tacky due to the warm summer days. Therefore, when you turn your car around it is important to keep the car in motion while turning the wheel. This will prevent scuffmarks on the driveway. If a scuffmark occurs, There is no need for alarm. They wear away.
We are having other work done around the house, will this hurt my new driveway?
Yes. We recommend having all masonry, landscaping and other work around the house completed first.
How do we care for the edges of our new driveway?
If you do not have a border on your driveway, it is recommended to backfill the exposed edges with topsoil and grass seed. As the new grass grows, it will act as a natural retainer so if someone drives off the side it will not hurt the asphalt edge. This is a task that you or your landscaper can do.
What about seal-coating?
You can seal your driveway after 90 days. We recommend after 1 year and then every 2-3 years after that. You can do this yourself, hire Harmony Paving Co.,Inc. or other qualified seal coating company to seal your driveway.
